Celebrate Great - Going the Extra Mile

 

At Sunflower, we believe our people are what set us apart—and Fleet Coordinator Gary Ketch recently showed us just how true that is!

Recently, Sunflower sold a truck through Purple Wave online auction, and Gary personally met the new owner to deliver the vehicles. Everything seemed smooth until the purchaser called Gary from the side of the road a little later and was stranded several miles away with a dead truck. Gary sprang into action, discovering the engine had run low on coolant and the truck had entered "limp mode" to prevent any damage. The issue? A known quirk with this diesel model causes a hose to shrink and leak if the truck sits idle for too long.

Not only did Gary call for roadside assistance, but he stayed with the purchaser, making sure the truck was refilled with coolant, and even followed them to a shop to have the hose inspected and resealed. Thanks to Gary’s dedication, the purchaser made it safely to their destination.

But the story doesn’t end there. A few days later, Gary received an unexpected call from the Purple Wave Auctions customer care division. They shared how impressed they were with Gary's actions, saying they’d never made a call like this before, but they wanted to personally thank him—and Sunflower—for truly going above and beyond!
